Framing is the structure that goes against the wall - a store, the carcass behind a kitchen platform. Box work is a finished, closed unit with shutters, shelves and hardware: a wardrobe, a crockery unit, a loft, a shoe cabinet. Most homes need both, which is why one figure alone would not tell you much.
A rate is per square foot of the finished face
Width multiplied by height, in feet, of the front of the unit - not the floor it stands on and not the number of shelves inside. A wardrobe 7 feet wide and 7 feet tall is 49 sq ft. At the box work rate that is about ₹49,000. A store framed along one wall, 8 feet by 7 feet, is 56 sq ft, about ₹33,600 at the framing rate.
The same arithmetic runs down your whole estimate, room by room, one line per unit. Nothing is a lump sum and nothing is hidden inside another figure - you see the size, the rate and the amount for every item.
Drawers, steel baskets and a few other fittings are priced per piece rather than per square foot, because two drawers in a 49 sq ft wardrobe and six drawers in the same wardrobe are not the same job.
Why two homes of the same size cost differently
The laminate
1mm and 1.25mm, and the brand - Crystal, Orian, Hexa, Flexibond, Rama, Lionia. The sheet underneath stays the same; the finish you see does not.
The hardware
Ordinary hinges and channels, or soft-close tandem units and soft-close sliding channels. This is where a kitchen or a sliding wardrobe moves the most.
Drawers and baskets
Priced per piece. They add up quickly in a kitchen, and they are the easiest thing to adjust if a figure comes in above what you had in mind.
CNC and design work
A cut jali partition or a CNC mandir front is slower to make than a flat shutter, and it is priced as its own line.
How much of the home
A kitchen alone and a full home are different jobs. A whole home is measured in one go, which is also when the design is worth settling as one thing rather than room by room.
Site condition
Electricity, water and working space are provided at site. Anything beyond that is talked about before it is priced, not after.
What the rate already covers
Design
Drawn for your rooms and your sizes. There is no separate design charge.
Material and labour
The sheet, the laminate, the hardware, the making and the fitting - all inside the rate.
Transport
Workshop to your home, included.
No GST added
The figure on the estimate is the figure you pay.
What is not inside it: extra work agreed after the estimate is approved, which is always priced and approved by you before it is started, and any high-end item you ask for specifically.
Fifty, forty, ten
50% when the work starts, 40% midway through, and 10% on completion. Every payment gets a receipt in your app, and the running total of paid and due is on your screen the whole time - you never have to ask where the account stands.
